Having refurbished their basement flat to an extremely
high standard, our clients
then turned their attention to the neglected patio garden. Our brief was to reflect
the quality
of the flat while creating a stylish entertainment area.
We began by laying a white limestone surfacing, which creates a very modern sharp
and fresh looking impact. To complement this, on the walls we fixed hardwood framing
inspired by traditional Japanese architectural themes. And, around the edges of
the garden, we built custom designed fixed casual seating using stainless steel
and ebonised hardwood.
The Japanese theme was again reflected in the planting. Clipped topiary box hedging
provides a superb visual interaction with the hard edges of the limestone paving.
In turn, bamboo and evergreen flowering climbers add a soft, natural dimension to
the walls.
Strategic lighting changes the mood of the garden for
night-time use. A integrated
irrigation system ensures that maintenance is kept to a minimum
