Having spent a number of years improving their property our clients decided that
their garden required a total redesign, Bartholomew Landscaping were chosen because
they have worked on a number of successful projects in Hampstead and are on the
Hampstead Garden Suburb trusts approved list of contractors.
The brief was to create a feeling of space and to ensure that the whole garden was
usable by the whole family throughout the year. Bartholomew Landscaping designed
and constructed the gardens to reflect the traditional architecture whilst still
maintaining a contemporary feel. Only the highest quality materials have been used
throughout.
In the front garden the original path and paving was realigned with formal lawns
and a secluded seating area located in the shade of an existing tree that also provides
an important focal point enhancing the space.
The rear garden had to provide for entertaining as well as relaxing. Access was
required to the end of the garden where off street parking for three cars and the
garage was located. The drive was also used for basket-ball and winter play. The
end of the garden is dominated by an elegant square patio with a hardwood gazebo
spanning comfortable seating.
The existing boundary treatments were retained as a requirement of the trust and
privacy was improved by the installation of bespoke trellis panels and evergreen
trees and shrub planting.
The planting provides year round interest. Dense evergreen hedging is used to provide
additional privacy while, at the rear, clipped box hedges frame flowering borders
and seasonal bedding and herbaceous planting provide contrasting foliage, texture
and flower.
A controllable lighting system was installed to enhance the overall effect and create
varying lighting moods throughout the garden.
