After purchasing the adjacent property, our client asked us to refurbish and extend
the roof terrace that now wrapped around three sides of his penthouse apartment
and could be viewed from every room.
Our design introduced differently themed yet complementary spaces separated by bespoke
plant containers and arches. A bold use of decking at the corners unified the three
sides of the terrace.
The main terrace, accessible from the entertaining area and kitchen, was surfaced
in light coloured limestone laid in a simple pattern. A contemporary water feature
with two mirrored stainless steel columns established the central focus.
For the terrace adjacent to the living space we created a more intimate feel by
using traditional stone laid with a slate banding. A modern sculpture and a pergola
festooned with roses and wisteria add to the effect.
Private seating areas were built for each of the bedroom terraces. Circular slate
slab paving interspersed with river washed white pebbles provides an attractive
walkway link.
The planting is architectural in style and includes two large olive trees and specimen
topiaries for year round interest.
