Roof terrace

The starting point

A need for simplicity was at the heart of the brief for this London roof terrace. Our client wanted maximum space
for entertaining, limited formal planting and minimum maintenance.

Our solution
The entrance to the terrace is through a very modern looking glass stairwell. To complement this and also facilitate a generous area for entertainment we laid a beautifully carpentered timber deck.

Continuous runs of stainless steel containers reflect the linearity of the terrace architecture and decking while providing a tidy solution for planting. An additional bespoke storage cupboard was constructed, which has a plant container built into the top.

The choice of plants was carefully considered in light of the need for low maintenance. Sturdy yet visually interesting plants were used to populate the storage cupboard planter. And, for the stainless steel containers, we included Lavender and Rosemary so that their aromatic fragrances could flow around the terrace and into the apartment.

An irrigation system was installed to help make plant maintenance as easy as possible.
